AIR COOLED RULES
Gasoline is defined as any petroleum based product with a specific gravity under .770.
Alcohol is defined as any alcohol base with a specific gravity under .820.
On a ½ spot over 50 ft., the advantage is given to the slower car.
Full suspension is defined as movement in the front and rear. Rear movement must be a minimum of 3 inches. This is measured as total travel top to bottom at the vertical plane of the inside of the rear tire.
Seat belt, shoulder harness, aviation type safety harness, fire extinguisher required.
Tether switch and arm restraints are also mandatory. The tether switch must be a switch to kill the engine at any time the driver’s hands leave the steering wheel.
Maximum added ballast will be 50lbs. Must be anchored according to MSRA regulations.
OFF ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Vehicle must weigh 1100 lbs or more, including the driver’s weight.
Maximum wheel base, 120 inches.
Must have suspension as defined above.
Transmission must be manually shifted.
There will be two off-road classes: STOCK & MODIFIED
Add 1 spot for other than Stock V.W. synchronizers in the transmission. (Inspection of synchronizers will be done through the oil hole in the side of the transmission. Any attempt to shroud or other wise conceal the synchronizers will be considered illegal.)
**All air cooled vehicles require 10 minutes minimum cool down time.
** All vehicles must be ready to run 15 minutes after their previous run.
These parts will be stock:
Flat top pistons (Slip-in 88MM Max. size) No valve relief.
Rocker arms must be V.W.
Valve strings, stock diameter, single spring.
Valve (NO TITANIUM).
Retainers may be chromoly.
Heads: NO modifications to the outside of the head or cylinder. Must have stock ports, combustion chambers, and the valves must be the size that came in that head. (No. .041, .043, or .044 heads allowed.)
May have two venturi carburetors.
Stock class may have a cam change.
Must be able to start from within the car and must drive back.
Deduct 1 spot for DOT tires.
NO engine balancing.
MODIFIED--Anything other than stock
Porting, any removal of material or modification to the intake port, exhaust port, or to the combustion chamber will be considered porting.
Stock valve size, any valve with the same head diameter as a stock valve.
Spotting will be done according to spot numbers, the first 5 spots will be 10 ft, after that they will be 5 ft.
